The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse Children's Book Review
Charlie Mackesy’s children’s book 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' is about a young boy who converses with his animal companions as they each impart their own wisdom on one another, helping each other to thrive on the journey of life.
Mackesy’s accompanying illustrations for his book are simply beautiful! All the illustrations are delicately painted in a style that is not very common in children’s books, so it is super refreshing. The text of the book is also in calligraphic painting. This entire book is a work of art.
'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' is one of the most touching books I’ve ever read, there are just so many nuggets of truth and knowledge that make you remember how to treat others and, most importantly, how to treat yourself. For this reason, this book is not only wonderful for children, but for anyone who needs some occasional positivity and counsel. In a world where there is a lot of uncertainty and fear, the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse are here to remind you that there is always goodness in the world.
There is a reason this book was Waterstone’s Book of the Year in 2019! It would make a wonderful addition to any bookshelf.
